Abstract:
Dementia is a group of prevalent conditions that affect about 14% of senior citizens in the U.S, from the age of 70 and above. The effects of diminishing cognitive behavior and memory loss have shown to be devastating for families. Hence why much research has been done to uncover preventions for dementia. This study aims to investigate previous research and methods used to evince the effectiveness of the supposed preventions for dementia. The results, however, show that dementia cannot necessarily be prevented as its causes are not completely clear. There is also no way to slow it down once early signs are prominent. Hence, there is no cure for it yet. Nonetheless, studies have shown how the average person living a healthy lifestyle, and continuously stimulating their minds, can help reduce their risks of developing the condition. There are less chances of attaining dementia if you get enough sleep, eat healthy and balanced meals, as well as exercise. However once dementia is developed there is not much that can be done to reverse it as of right now.
