Abstract:
Throughout history, there have been many questions surrounding whether or not children should be vaccinated. Medical professionals have attempted to debunk the myths surrounding the negative effects of child immunizations. The are three main categories for why parents may be hesitant about vaccinating their children; and they are as followed – religion, personal beliefs, and safety concerns. One of the biggest fears and misconceptions about this topic is that child immunization can lead to autism. The CDC has expressed the removal of thimerosal, which is the mercury-based preservative in vaccines that has been previously associated with autism, for years.. Not to mention, the countless studies that have been conducted to dismiss the claim; yet, many parents are still apprehensive. Medical professionals have used science and reasoning to disprove these misconceptions and have stated that, child immunizations are effective and necessary. In the end, children are more likely to be seriously ill from diseases rather than any vaccine (WHO).
